The 15th November will see the 155th edition of Hospices de Beaune Wine Auction – one of the most famous charity auctions in the world organised by Christie’s Auction House. This year will mark an historic milestone for the wines of Chablis with two barrels from the appellation being presented for the first time in the history of this venerable institution. Offered by Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard, the Premier Cru Côte de Léchet will be the very first vineyard in Chablis to participate in this prestigious sale. Situated on Kimmeridgian hillsides, and benefitting from superb orientation, this magnificent parcel of Premier Cru Côte de Léchet is entirely organically farmed.

Jean-Marc Brocard: “It’s absolutely wonderful to see this splendid vineyard join the Hospices de Beaune! Our family felt that the absence of Chablis from this prestigious auction in the heart of Burgundy was something of an anomaly. The stature of Chablis around the world today is such that our appellation could no longer remain absent from what is a major event for all lovers of fine Burgundy”.

The proceeds from the auction go towards the charitable activities of the Hospices de Beaune such as the improvement of medical equipment, modernisation of its infrastructure and the conservation of historic monuments like the Hôtel-Dieu in Beaune. And, in addition, every year since 1945 the Hospices have lent their support to one or more charities, represented by various famous personalities, by donating the proceeds of the sale of a particular barrel known as the “pièce des Présidents”.
