Today Champagne Duval-Leroy gave an update on the 2015 Harvest across all of its vineyards.

For vineyards in Champagne, 2015 was marked by unprecedented high temperatures and a lack of rain from the end of May up until mid-August. This slowed grape development to a certain extent. Fortunately, several welcome rainfalls during the second half of August enabled the berries to swell nicely and, combined with excellent sunshine and warmth, ensured they ripened rapidly in the very best conditions. The bunches are in perfect sanitary condition. The maximum yield of 10,000 kg/ha as fixed by the growers and champagne houses last July (to which 500 kg/ha can come from reserves) should be reached across all of the Duval Leroy vineyards.

Julien Duval-Leroy commented: “We are experiencing an exceptional 2015 harvest! It is already well underway as practically all the grapes are now in our presses and the harvest will be finished in just a few days. The crop is of excellent quality. We had a superb hot, dry summer which allowed the grapes to achieve perfect ripeness and also protected the vines from disease. The quality of the grapes is exceptional for all three varieties and the musts, which are superbly balanced, are already showing impressive concentration. It augurs a very great wine indeed! Everything points to an outstanding 2015 vintage. We’re most impatient to taste the finished wines in the firm hope they will live up to all our qualitative expectations.”
