Vigne de Torrette 2004 Val d'Aosta (Di Barro) – (A wine from Italy)

Di BarroThe experienced sommelier Christian Martray from the 2 star Michelin Hameau Albert 1er in Chamonix (France) made a proposal: why not a red wine from Val d’Aosta? When we looked at the label, the 15% content scared us a little bit. When we tasted it, the first expression which came to mind were: pure and natural, like Chamonix! We felt some alcohol but it was associated to a high maturity, a good balance and ripe fruits. All this made the wine delicious to drink now. In a small mountainous valley bounded by France and Switzerland, this winery can boast high altitude vineyards planted with indigenous grape varietes such as Petite Rouge, Gros Rouge, Mayolet or Fumin. The Di barro estate is very small and only bottles 1,700 cases every year. Difficult to get it you but makes a trip to Chamonix even greater!
