Silex and the City: the 2010 harvest at Chateau de Tracy in Pouilly Fume

TracyThe count Henry d’Assay is making extremely elegant Pouilly Fume wines. With a range of 4 wines (Mademoiselle de T, Chateau de Tracy, Haute Densite et 101 Rangs), he shows the great potential of both chalk and silex terroirs. Today Henry d’Assay made some comments about what is happening now on his estate.

There is a lot of work as we started grape picking but everyone is happy here because there was a lot of excitement over the last few days. Things are going pretty well even if it is too early to say anything. We harvested the high density planted vines, there is a great potential with these grapes. Maturity is nice and aromas are showing well. Planting 17000 vines per hectare may seem crazy, in fact we are the unique estate in Pouilly Fume with high density planted vines, but results are really outstanding. Since we started the Haute Densite Cuvee, we understood this particular terroir was making rich and focused wines. This year again, we can feel this sensation when we taste the first juices. We have nice aromas, it’s rich with a good acidity.
