Wine.com, the US leading online wine retailer, today announced the eighth annual Wine.com 100. Reflecting the top wines purchased on the website during the first 11 months of 2014, the Wine.com 100 is the industry’s only list based exclusively on consumer purchasing data. The list provides insight into consumer trends, highlighting the most popular regions, varietals and producers.

This year, Caymus 2012 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon took the #1 spot. This is the first year that a wine retailing over $20 has topped the list. Caymus released its 40th anniversary Cabernet Sauvignon to much fanfare and accolades. Blessed with the 40th anniversary label coinciding with a fantastic vintage in California, the 2012 bottling quickly rose to the top in units sold on Wine.com.

What are Wine.com customers drinking? Steadily increasing over the past decade, the popularity of rose has hit a new mark! The #7 wine on this year’s list is the Pitt & Perrin’s Miraval Rose. Customers also tap into Tempranillo. Riding on the coattails of last year’s #1 wine, Tempranillo grew as a category. This year, seven Tempranillos made the Wine.com 100. All hailing from Rioja, Spain, these wines ranged from value to cellar-worthy. Showcasing over 18 different varietals spanning five continents, nine countries and many more sub-regions, it’s clear Wine.com customers have a diverse palate.
