Stephane Ogier

On the eve of the opening of the 86th Wine Market in Ampuis, Domaine Stéphane Ogier announces the release of the new film “Happy to be born in Côte- Rôtie“.

STEPHANE OGIER, THE TIGHTROPE WALKER OF CÔTE-RÔTIE

Since he took over the family winery in 1998, Stéphane Ogier has been constantly developping it. In this film, Stéphane explains how his experience in Burgundy and in South Africa influenced his work and talks about the pleasure he takes every day to work with the respect and love of this terroir. Working separately over a dozen “lieux-dits”, he raises the subject of premiers crus and grands crus in Côte-Rôtie.

Stéphane Ogier: “Some soils are quite extraordinary, they still stand out from the crowd. Simply because, to return to the image of Burgundy with the premiers crus and the grands crus, I am convinced that we have some terroirs in Côte-Rôtie that should be considered grand cru wines. These are the terroirs where the wines have such a unique expression that you do not want to blend them. We feel it, they are doing so well on their own..”

PARCELLAIRES 2010 AVAILABLE FROM FEBRUARY 1ST

In this film shot in the heart of the village of Ampuis, Stéphane Ogier tells the story of his two iconic wines in Côte-Rôtie, La Belle-Hélène and Lancement. Today, these two cuvees created with his father Michel represent the very essence of the place they come from, one in Côte Brune, the other in Côte Blonde.

Stéphane Ogier: “The Ampuis Wine Market is important for us to meet Côte-Rôtie lovers and talk about the new 2010 vintage 2010 that will be soon available for Parcellaires. It’s just before the 1st of February, an important date for our wine estate because it is the day we historically chose to announce the release of the new vintage of Condrieu Vieilles Vignes, Côte-Rôtie La Belle-Hélène and Lancement.

Ampuis Wine Market runs from Friday, January 17 to Monday, January 20.
