Wine critics celebrate Champagne de Venoge for the end of this year. Bruce Sanderson, Essi Avellan MW, Tom Stevenson, Michael Edwards, Maggie Mc Nie MW, Simon Field MW, Antony Moss MW, Margaret Rand…recently gave high scores for their experience of the unique taste of Champagne de Venoge. This week, Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2000 came N°2 in December Decanter’s selection: “Sour honey, gunflint, lemongrass, brioche, nut and butter bouquet. Big, flavoursome wine with an absolutely gorgeous toastiness behind fabulously fresh, peachy fruit. Lovely, soft, cushiony mousse”. Gilles Morisson de la Bassetiere, CEO of this champagne house, was enthusiastic: “Blanc de Blancs 2000 is a great champagne mostly served in exclusive restaurants. We are also excited by the current pre-launch of the Blanc de Blancs 2002, an exceptional champagne which is already selected by the best sommelier of the world Andreas Larsson for Asia Airlines’ First Class.” From 90 points for Brut Cordon Bleu to 97 points for Brut Vintage 1988, Champagne de Venoge also got top scores in the US magazine Wine Spectator. And recently FINE Champagne announced the 14th position of Champagne de Venoge in its Top 100 Best Champagne as well as the 3rd position for Vintage Champagne. “Over the last 10 years, the focus on making exceptional quality champagnes can explain the top performance of Champagne de Venoge in blind tastings.” he concluded.
