Champagne Henri Giraud is at a generational crossroads and so has decided to start its own “Revolution” to stay true to itself. At its Atelier N°6 (April 17 & 18, 2016), Claude Giraud will present its 2015 vins clairs in barrels from the Argonne Forest as well as three new vintages expressing both a respect for the terroir as a living space and also the company’s own vision of “Vin Nature” or “natural wine”. Atelier N°6 will provide the opportunity to announce the official end of stainless steel; barrels will be made of oak from the Argonne Forest and terracotta will be used for vinifying the grapes.

Claude Giraud explained : “On the Henri Giraud Estate, natural wine must not be a concept void of meaning or a return to the past – it needs to be the affirmation of who we are. Thirty years of painstaking work reviewing the basics of Champagne and of learning about the Argonne Forest have convinced us we are right; a Wine of Excellence goes hand-in-hand with small harvests, small containers and fine materials for wine-making.”

As in past years, distinguished guests will contribute to the discussion and reflection made possible by Atelier N°6. Accompanied by their respective signature vintages, representatives of their wine estates, Stéphane Ogier, Famille Perrin and Egon Müller will talk about the passion, energy and intelligence that go into expressing their terroir and their culture. The event is a way of highlighting the common values that unite the great wines of the world and that are the only possible judgement criteria in the 21st century.
