A great 100% Pïnot Noir Extra Brut Rosé from Champagne Alexandre Bonnet

A great 100% Pïnot Noir Extra Brut Rosé from Champagne Alexandre Bonnet

Romanee ContiIn its June edition, Decanter mentions the Extra Brut Rosé Champagne Alexandre Bonnet together with Bollinger, Deutz or Charles Heidsieck in its “Hot Pinks to banish Winter Blues”. The comment goes straight to the point: “Pale, Vinous and very dry, this is one of the more serious styles of rosé that cries out to be served with sushi or lightly spiced Asian dishes.”Elaborated by the winemaker Alain Pailley, this 100% Pinot Noir rosé wine reveals the great potential of this grape variety planted near the village of Les Riceys.

In fact Alexandre Bonnet is historically recognized for its initiatives on “plot by plot” work and for its research based on a better expression of the terroirs and the soils of Riceys. Its vines on steep slopes constitute the heart of its estate property in particular those located in the “La Forêt” area with full southern exposure on a kimmeridgian soil. Its pinot noir grapes have the reputation to give structure, roundness and a long finish to delightful wines. This Extra Brut Rosé results entirely from estate Pinot Noir grapes.

The low yields from vines cultivated since 1960 with respect to environmental issues, give a unique maturity to this Noir Rosé Extra Brut. The structure, the long finish and the natural elegance of this non-dosage champagne rosé reveal the typical minerality of the best Pinot Noir grapes in Champagne. A renowned expert for Rosé, Alexandre Bonnet is also producing a Rosé des Riceys which is an ideal partner during the summer lunches and offers an incredible ageing potential.
