Prisca Asselin (23 years old), student sommelier in Talence near Bordeaux, was awarded the 19th edition of the M.Chapoutier – Metro Best Student Sommelier Competition. Final took place in Rhone Valley at Tain l’Hermitage, the hometown of Maison M.Chapoutier, the largest European biodynamic wine estate whose iconic Parcellaires include Cote Rotie La Mordoree, Hermitage L’Ermite and Chateauneuf du Pape Barberac. Thirty sommelier schools from France participated to this competition that is sponsored for 50% by Metro and to which Maison M.Chapoutier provides every year even more support.

This edition rewards the extraordinary dynamism of a new generation of sommeliers in which women take on considerable importance. Prisca’s victory shows a beautiful image of wine, marked by feminism, sophistication and open-mindedness.” declared Michel Chapoutier.

A professional jury has announced the results under the parrainage of Fabrice Sommier (Sommelier at Restaurant Georges Blanc, Master of Port 2010 and Meilleur Ouvrier de France). Among the prizes awarded to the 6 finalists: a week to discover Australian vineyards, a wine selection offered by Maison M.Chapoutier and Metro Cash & Carry, two return tickets offered by Etihad Airways and a gastronomy weekend offered by the 3 star Michelin Restaurant Pic in Valence.
